The Transition Hub
A Step Up Academy’s new Step Up Institute Transition Hub Program is a comprehensive day program designed to support young adults with extensive support needs in achieving their vocational and independent living aspirations. This program offers a personalized vocational support plan for each participant, encompassing key components such as skills assessment, goal setting, and targeted training. Through a combination of vocational and adaptive behavior programming, young adults gain the necessary competencies to thrive in the workplace and independent living environments.

Career Exploration
Every student in the Transition Hub begins in our Career Exploration Program. The program runs for 6 weeks and offers all students the opportunity to learn about and try different jobs in each of our career pathways.
Career Pathways
Each career pathway program runs for 6-weeks and provides hands-on training and practice inidividualized to their strengths, needs, and skill levels.
Independence at Home
Independence at Home is a 6-week stand alone program that focuses on daily living skills as well as household responsibilities. For students who attend the Transition Hub full-time, these skills are embedded into their daily routines.
Objectives:

Students will have a better understanding of their interests, strengths, and preferences related to various career paths.

Students will have developed and demonstrated essential skills for employment, such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, time management, and self-advocacy.

Students will have explored a variety of career options and pathways, gaining exposure to different industries, occupations, and job roles.

Students will have learned how to conduct a job search, including identifying job opportunities, preparing job applications (resumes, cover letters), and participating in job interviews.
Objectives:

Students will have hands-on instruction and training to develop students' practical skills in vocational areas, including facilities maintenance, agriculture, hospitality, and entrepreneurship.

Students will be empowered to take ownership of their tasks and responsibilities in specific vocational settings, while providing appropriate support and guidance as needed.

Students will learn how to complete self-care tasks related to independent living (i.e., hand washing, teeth brushing, and general hygiene)

Students will learn how to complete household responsibilities related to independent living (i.e., money management, time management, meal preparation, and household chores).
A Day at the Transition Hub
At The Step Up Institute's Transition Hub, each student’s schedule is tailored to meet their unique needs, strengths, and goals.
While every student follows an individualized plan, all schedules include core components designed to build vocational, social, and life skills. These components include hands-on vocational training, PAES Lab Assessments, and structured breaks to explore leisure activities.
Our flexible structure ensures that each student receives the support they need while engaging in activities that foster growth, independence, and a sense of accomplishment.​​
